Our Wedding ~ The Party

The Party

For Fairy Alma and Prince Gareth, the important thing was that their friends and family share in their happiness. So, they wanted a party for everyone! They didn't just want a party, they had one. This was a big celebration and everyone had so much fun.

The party was at their home also. One of Prince Gareth's friends catered the event. There was beer and barbeque and an awesome time. There is no record of exactly how many people showed up, but the place was packed! It was an interesting mix of people, from all walks of life ... Fairy Alma's fellow college professors and students and Prince Gareth's biker buddies. As it turned out this was a really good mix!!!

Fairy Alma, in her reluctance to have a traditional ceremony, did not want a cake. This is when she began to be a pain about anti-tradition ... Prince Gareth and his daughter Lady Elizabeth convinced her to have a cake. Well, Miss "I'm-never-gonna-git-married" had been carrying around a cake top that a friend gave her 10 years ago (long story there!). Fairy Alma took this cake top to Prince Gareth's friend Lady Joan and she convinced Fairy Alma that not only was a cake a good thing to have, but that she had to have a tiered cake to show off the cake top! The resulting cake was a masterpiece that tasted as good as it looked.

Here, Prince Gareth and Lady Alma are cutting the first slice of cake and getting ready to smash it in each other's face! No, not really. Neither of them go for that sort of thing. By the way, after the ceremony, Prince Gareth put his usual tee shirt and jeans on. However, everyone convinced him to put the tuxedo back on for the cake.

Fairy Alma and Prince Gareth did not take a honeymoon. They had work to do. Instead, they spent their wedding night at Mesón de Mesilla, an intimate bed and breakfast inn close to home. They had such a wonderful time that each year, they return to their same room for their anniversary!

So, that is the end of the tale. Actually, that is really the beginning of the tale. At the writing of this, Fairy Alma and Prince Gareth have been married almost 5 years! There should be some updates this year.
